In the Super Eight phase of the tournament, Bumrah delivered outstanding performances across 12 overs and three different grounds, helping India secure the top spot in the group with figures of 6/49 in just four days. He excelled by containing opposition and preventing any late challenges to India’s total.
Against Afghanistan in Barbados, Bumrah continued his exceptional performance by dismissing Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Hazratullah Zazai with change-of-pace deliveries early on. He also dismissed Najibullah Zadran while conceding only seven runs in four overs.
In India’s final Super Eights match against Australia in St Lucia, Bumrah once again displayed his expertise in the death overs. As Australia tried to chase down India’s score of 205/5, Bumrah’s skills shone through, especially when he dismissed Travis Head with a well-executed off-cutter in the 17th over. This crucial wicket all but sealed India’s victory and cemented their top-spot finish in the group.
