Buc-ee’s: Fire at Original Location Does Not Halt Successful Expansion
The fire at the original Buc-ee’s location in Luling occurred on Monday during demolition. Despite the close proximity of the new and old locations, the fire did not affect the new travel center that opened its doors to the public on the same day. According to the Caldwell County Office of Emergency Management, the cause of the fire is still unknown but it occurred when excavators were being used during demolition.
The original Buc-ee’s opened in 2003 and marked the start of the brand’s success and expansion to 49 locations in nine states. The new location in Luling is now considered as world’s largest convenience store, with Texas leading with 35 Buc-ee’s locations in the state. Additionally, Buc-ee’s claims to have world’s longest car wash at 255 feet in Katy, near Houston.
