Lukas Maertens is a German swimmer who has been making waves in the swimming world. He recently set a new personal best time of 3:40.33 in the men’s 400 freestyle at the 2024 German Swimming Championships, also known as the Olympic Trials. This achievement was particularly impressive as it was the fastest time in the world for the season.
Maertens had previously been ranked #4 in the world this season with a time of 3:42.96 at the 2024 World Championships in Doha. His new personal best time surpassed his previous record of 3:41.60 set in April 2022. At the 2022 World Championships, he won a silver medal with a time of 3:42.85.
