Breaking News: Frederick Announces Closure of Leased Sports Fields for Public Use

The City of Frederick has announced that all leased sports fields, including those used by schools, will be closed to the public during a specified time frame. This means that no one is allowed to use the fields during this period, and any league found using a closed field may face fines or lose access for the season. Unpermitted users will receive a warning or citation if caught on a closed field.

To stay informed about field closings, residents can sign up for email or text alerts on the City’s website at www.cityoffrederick.com. Notifications are posted on the public information line at 301-600-6970 option 3, and closures are announced by 2 pm on weekdays and 8 am on weekends. Those interested can now sign up for email or text alerts for field closings by visiting the City’s website and selecting “View All” under press releases on the main page. Click on “Notify Me,” add your email address, choose which groups you would like to receive messages from, and specify if you prefer email only or email and phone notifications.
