Adena Health Falls Short of Meeting Standards Set by Top Healthcare Accreditation Group

Breaking News: Adena Health Denied Accreditation from NCQA – Amidst Legal Allegations and Concerns Over Credentialing Practices

In a recent development, Adena Health, a hospital system located in Chillicothe, has been denied accreditation from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) in credentialing. NCQA, a non-profit organization known for its rigorous healthcare accreditation standards, has only denied this type of credentialing to three other hospitals in the country.

According to NCQA’s website, to receive accreditation, an organization must meet a set of requirements that include best practices and high-quality care. NCQA evaluates clinicians and practices that use teamwork and technology to deliver coordinated and patient-centered primary care.

Despite the denial, Adena Health has appealed the decision and is working diligently to address the issue. A spokesman for Adena stated that they have a long history of positive collaboration with NCQA and continue to work towards meeting changing requirements. However, this decision has not affected their ability to credential providers, and they remain confident in their credentialing standards.

In addition to the accreditation issue, Adena is currently facing a lawsuit in federal court alleging that they knowingly submitted false and fraudulent claims for payment to Medicaid and other government reimbursement programs. There are also allegations that some cardiologists at Adena performed heart valve procedures without proper credentials, which the organization has denied.
