Hope Alive Awarded $30,000 Grant for Affordable Mental Health Care Services

Breaking Down Barriers: Hope Alive Receives $30,000 Grant to Expand Mental Health Services for Homeless Women and Low-Income Residents in Allen County

In a press release on Wednesday, Hope Alive announced that it had received a $30,000 grant from the St. Joseph Community Health Foundation. This funding will be used to support Hope Alive’s Community Counseling Program and Residential Program, which provide mental health treatment and life skills training to homeless women and low-income residents in Allen County.

The grant is intended to provide counseling services for those who cannot afford these services, particularly homeless women facing mental health challenges. According to Mental Health America, 22% of adult Indiana residents experienced mental illness in 2023. Indiana has the highest rate in the country of adults with untreated mental health needs and an above-average suicide rate.

Dawn Etzel, the executive director of Hope Alive, emphasized the importance of providing access to mental health services for everyone in need. She highlighted that this grant will have a positive impact on the community, especially on homeless women who require mental health treatment. The grant from the St. Joseph Community Health Foundation is seen as a blessing that will contribute significantly to addressing mental health challenges faced by homeless individuals in the community.

Hope Alive’s Community Counseling Program offers low-cost counseling services for individuals facing various life challenges such as depression, anxiety, trauma, addiction, and abuse. The program provides personalized care and support for clients through individual or group counseling sessions.

The Residential Program provides temporary housing for homeless women while they receive mental health treatment and life skills training. The program also offers case management services to help clients find permanent housing and connect them with other resources they need to live independent lives.

This funding will allow Hope Alive to continue offering affordable mental health services to those in need while breaking down financial barriers that prevent people from receiving necessary care.

In conclusion, Hope Alive’s $30,000 grant from the St. Joseph Community Health Foundation is a significant milestone towards addressing mental health challenges faced by homeless individuals in Allen County. This funding will enable Hope Alive to offer quality counseling services and temporary housing while promoting independence and self-sufficiency among its clients.
