Boosting Water Efficiency in Livestock Operations: Kansas Livestock Water Efficiency Pilot Project Launches with Cost Share Assistance and Incentive Payments
The Kansas Department of Agriculture’s Division of Conservation (KDA-DOC) is pleased to announce the availability of funds for commercial feedlots and dairy operations to improve livestock water efficiency technology. This initiative, known as the Kansas Livestock Water Efficiency Pilot Project, aims to promote water conservation in the state and address water challenges through cost share assistance and incentive payments.
Under this project, eligible applicants can receive funding to upgrade their existing large-scale livestock watering systems by installing high-efficiency livestock waterers and implementing water recycling systems. To be eligible, applicants must have a current livestock water right with the state of Kansas and applications will be accepted until July 31, 2024. Equipment purchases made before approval by KDA-DOC are not eligible for this funding.
Funding for the project comes from the State Water Plan Fund and is administered by KDA-DOC in consultation with the State Conservation Commission.
