Boone County Issues Drug Overdose Alert as Northern Kentucky Sees Unusually High Number of Non-Fatal Overdoses

According to the Northern Kentucky Health Department, this is an unusually high number of overdose encounters in a short period of time. These include always having naloxone on hand, calling 911 in case of an overdose, not using drugs alone, and checking in on others who may be at risk.

Naloxone, a medication used to reverse opioid overdoses, is readily available at various locations throughout Northern Kentucky through the health department’s county health centers. Those who receive a naloxone kit will also receive training on how to correctly administer it from a nurse.
