Bob’s Stores: A Legacy Closes as Chapter 11 Petition Filed

Bob’s Stores, a retailer known for its discount clothing and shoes, is closing all its locations and liquidating all inventory as part of a Chapter 11 restructuring petition filed on June 18. The stores will close by July 14 and will offer going-out-of-business sales with discounts of 30-70% on workwear, footwear, team wear, and everyday clothing. Additionally, store fixtures, furniture, and equipment will also be for sale during the liquidation event.

Despite efforts to make changes to the company’s structure and operations, Bob’s Stores was unable to secure the finances needed to maintain operations. The liquidation event will be managed by Hilco Merchant Resources and Gordon Brothers, and will include all 21 stores throughout Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, and Rhode Island. Gift cards and merchandise credits will be honored until the stores close.

In a statement, Dave Barton, president of Bob’s Stores expressed regret over the necessity of the store closures while acknowledging the retailer’s nearly 70-year history of serving local communities. Bob’s Stores is headquartered in Meriden, Connecticut is known for its affordable prices and comprehensive merchandise offerings. It is a subsidiary of GoDigital Media Group which owns other businesses like Cinq Music
