Blizzard has announced the cancellation of its BlizzCon 2024 conference, but the company is not letting this dampen their spirits. Instead, they have made plans to celebrate Warcraft’s 30th anniversary with a series of global events and will participate in other industry conventions such as Gamescom. While BlizzCon may not be happening this year, fans can still expect to hear about the company’s upcoming video games, including World of Warcraft: The War Within and the first expansion of Diablo IV, Vessel of Hatred.
Blizzard stated that they take the decision to cancel BlizzCon seriously and emphasized that it is a special event. However, they also reassured fans that they plan to bring back BlizzCon in future years. The company will continue to provide live broadcasts about news from their universes and fans can expect different events throughout 2024 that will have the same spirit of celebration and community.
The cancellation of BlizzCon in 2020 due to the pandemic was followed by cases of harassment and discrimination against employees in 2021. In contrast, BlizzCon was held in person again in Anaheim, California, after four years of being held in a digital format. Players were able to play their favorite titles and learn about new features for games like Diablo IV, Overwatch, and Warcraft Rumble.
Overall, while BlizzCon may not be happening this year, fans can still look forward to hearing more about the company’s upcoming projects and participating in global events throughout 2024.
