As concerns about Joe Biden’s health and re-election bid grew following a disastrous first presidential debate against Donald Trump, the POTUS made a significant disclosure about his medical check-up during a meeting with over 20 Democratic governors on Wednesday. During the private meeting, Biden informed the governors that he had undergone a medical check-up after the previous week’s debate in response to a question about his physical condition. However, sources familiar with the discussion revealed that the check-up was conducted by a White House physician due to lingering symptoms from a cold and did not involve any major tests.
Despite this news, some Democrats were still suggesting that Biden should drop out of the race. However, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre avoided direct questions from reporters about whether Biden had been examined since the debate, stating that the president undergoes regular annual physicals that are released in a thorough report. Meanwhile, Democratic governors from New York, Minnesota, and Maryland expressed their support for Biden’s re-election bid.
Maryland Governor Wes Moore stated that Biden had their backs, and they would have his back as well. He also mentioned that although there was work to be done before the election, Biden had made it clear that he would continue in the race. New York Governor Kathy Hochul also expressed confidence after the meeting and pledged her support for Biden. Minnesota Governor Tim Walz highlighted the concern about the threat of a Trump presidency and emphasized their support for Biden as the party leader and nominee.
