Biden aims to differentiate his health care policies from Trump’s in North Carolina

Biden Calls Out GOP on Healthcare and Abortion Rights During Raleigh Visit to Mark ACA Anniversary

Vice President Harris and President Biden traveled to North Carolina on Tuesday to mark the 14th anniversary of the Affordable Care Act. The state capital, Raleigh, was selected as the location for their remarks due to its potential as a swing opportunity for Democrats in the upcoming November elections.

During their visit, Biden took the chance to criticize Republicans and Trump for their attempts to restrict access to abortion rights and weaken healthcare coverage. He pointed out that Trump and his allies in Congress had tried multiple times to repeal ObamaCare, also known as the Affordable Care Act. Biden also denounced a Republican Study Committee’s budget proposal that proposed cuts to the ACA and entitlement programs.

In addition, Biden emphasized the importance of moving forward and defending democracy while ensuring that healthcare is a right that offers freedom of choice. He highlighted Trump’s controversial remarks suggesting punishment for women who have abortions and his claims of credit for ending Roe v. Wade.

North Carolina is considered a crucial battleground state in upcoming elections. A recent poll showed that Biden had reduced Trump’s lead in the state from 9 percentage points to 6 percentage points, indicating a close race for both the presidency and gubernatorial position in November.
