Bengals Add QB Drew Plitt to Practice Squad

The Bengals have announced the signing of Drew Plitt to their practice squad, as they search for a replacement for injured quarterback Joe Burrow. Plitt had previously been with the team during the 2022 preseason but was cut before making it to an NFL roster. He went on to play for Arlington in the XFL’s 2023 season, where he had a solid performance with a record of 63-of-100 for 668 yards, three touchdowns, and five interceptions.

With Jake Browning set to start for the Bengals and AJ McCarron in line for the No. 2 job, adding depth to the quarterback position is crucial. The team hopes that Plitt can bring some much-needed competition and provide valuable experience to the young quarterbacks on the roster.

Along with this addition, the Bengals also made some other roster moves. They designated running back Chase Brown for return from injured reserve and placed guard Jaxson Kirkland on the practice squad injured reserve. Brown has been out since Week 4 and will be looking forward to getting back into action as soon as possible. Meanwhile, Kirkland suffered an injury during Sunday’s practice and will be sidelined for at least a few weeks.
