Bartlesville High School’s track and field team had a remarkable performance at Regionals over the weekend, qualifying 12 student athletes for the State level. The usual suspects from BHS, including jumpers and long-distance runners, have been performing exceptionally well all spring and are expected to compete for championships at the State meet.
One of the standout athletes on the team is Gentry Turner, who has been a strong contender to win the two-mile event. Turner is also one of only a few girls who have run a sub-five-minute mile this season, making her a force to be reckoned with in her events.
Head coach David Ayres was quick to highlight some of the relay teams that will be representing Bartlesville at the upcoming State competition. He mentioned that Turner is one athlete to watch and that she has been performing exceptionally well all season long. Alongside Turner, Ayres mentioned several other Bartlesville qualifiers who have the potential to make a mark at the State meet.
With 6A State set to take place in Oklahoma City this Friday and Saturday, all eyes will be on Bartlesville High’s talented track and field team as they compete for top honors in their events.
