Avera Health announces biggest system expansion in history

Avera Health in Sioux Falls: $245 Million Project to Expand Women’s and Children’s Acute Care Services and Digestive Health Services

Avera Health in Sioux Falls is expanding its healthcare services with a $245 million project that includes a six-story tower addition to Avera McKennan Hospital & University Health Center. The centralized space for women’s and children’s acute care services will be housed in the new tower, expanding on the current offerings in these areas.

In addition, a three-story structure will be built on the Avera on Louise Health Campus to provide dedicated digestive health services. The existing space for this type of care will be repurposed to accommodate Avera’s growing orthopedic care services.

Avera President and CEO Jim Dover, along with Avera McKennan Regional President and CEO Dr. Ronald Place, shared the details of this major project during a press conference held at the Avera Prairie Center. Dr. Katherine Wang and Jennifer Kirby also provided insights into the project, which marks a significant investment in enhancing healthcare services for the community.

The expansion of Avera’s healthcare services will bring state-of-the-art facilities and equipment to patients, as well as highly trained medical professionals who are committed to providing exceptional care. This development is expected to create hundreds of new jobs in the healthcare industry and contribute to the continued growth of Sioux Falls.
