Austria’s Nico Wiener Fist-Pumps to Top Spot in Compound Men’s Final Four, While India’s Aditi Swami Crashes Out Early

Austria’s Nico Wiener fist-pumped his way to a 10 in his quarterfinal tiebreak against the reigning Hyundai Archery World Cup Champion Mathias Fullerton. This victory earned him a spot in the second compound men’s final four of his career. In the upcoming match, he will be up against Korea’s Yang Jaewon, under-21 world champion Priyansh, and Nick Kappers.

Fullerton, who was seeded first and widely considered the best archer at the moment, performed strongly throughout the event but finished in seventh place after losing to Wiener in their quarterfinal match. Despite acknowledging some luck in his win, Wiener credited his improvement and dedication to the sport for his success.

In the compound women’s category, Andrea Becerra secured a spot in the semifinals after defeating reigning World Archery Champion Aditi Swami in the quarterfinals. Becerra, who was previously runner-up to Swami in previous championships, will face off against Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Meeri-Marita Paas, and Alexis Ruiz in the upcoming matches. India is represented in the compound women’s semifinals by Jyothi Surekha Vennam.
