Miami secures commitment from Auburn target Herbert Scroggins

Auburn Misses Out on Commitment of Top-Ranked EDGE, Leaving Recruiting Game Uphill Battle

Auburn football has been working diligently on the recruiting trail during the summer offseason. Despite their efforts, they missed out on a significant target when four-star EDGE Herbert Scroggins committed to the Miami Hurricanes after a recent visit to the Plains.

Scroggins, a product of Savannah, Georgia, is currently ranked as the No. 376 overall player and the No. 34 EDGE in the 2025 class according to On3. He is also ranked as the No. 44 prospect in the state of Georgia. Miami beat out ACC rivals North Carolina and Georgia Tech to secure his commitment, leaving Auburn to face the challenge of bouncing back in the recruiting game, especially after recent decommitments and competition from other schools for mutual prospects.

The Tigers had high hopes for landing Scroggins after his visit just two weeks ago. However, their efforts were not enough to sway him away from Miami last weekend. The loss of Scroggins could hurt Auburn’s standing in the SEC and nationally for this recruiting cycle, but they are determined to improve their standing as the fall football season progresses.
