In a major development, Arglass and Zippe have joined forces for the construction of Arglass’s second plant in Valdosta, USA. The project is set to begin in December 2024 and will be commissioned in the second quarter of 2025. The goal of this partnership is to enhance operational efficiency and sustainability through the use of advanced technology.
At the heart of this collaboration is Zippe’s state-of-the-art batch plant, designed specifically for modern glass production. With a daily capacity of 495 tons for the second furnace, the system has been customized to optimize handling of raw materials, pre-mixing, and batch transport processes.
The modular design of the batch plant allows it to seamlessly integrate into Arglass’s existing infrastructure, minimizing downtime during installation and commissioning phases. Key features of the batch plant include mechanical raw material feeding mechanisms such as truck and train unloading systems equipped with vibratory tray feeders and elevators. The silo system can store up to 10 raw materials, with the largest silo having a volume of 500m3.
In addition to enhancing operational efficiency, Arglass is placing a strong emphasis on sustainability by implementing a cullet return system. This system will facilitate efficient recycling of glass cullet by using scraping conveyors, crushers, falling tubes, and conveyor belts. Furthermore, Zippe’s ZMART intelligent scraping conveyor control system will optimize conveyor speed based on gob weight and quantity, reducing wear and energy consumption.
Overall, this collaboration between Arglass and Zippe represents a significant investment in modern technology that will help enhance operational efficiency while promoting sustainability in glass production.
