Academy Sports and Outdoor recently donated 400 life jackets worth $5,000 to Safe Kids Columbus at Piedmont Columbus Regional. This is the store’s 5th consecutive year of supporting the organization, which is dedicated to keeping children safe in the community through various programs and initiatives.
The new life jackets will be used to promote community safety during water activities in the upcoming summer months. Safe Kids Columbus has a history of supporting water safety in the community, having received over $25,000 worth of items from Academy Sports + Outdoors in the past.
To further promote water safety, Safe Kids Columbus is hosting its annual River Savvy Kids event this Saturday from 10 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at the Blanton Creek Campground in Hamilton. The event aims to educate children on the importance of river safety, with kids receiving free individual life jackets. The event will have a pirate theme, so children are encouraged to wear pirate costumes for the occasion.
For additional information about the event or Safe Kids Columbus, individuals can contact 706-321-6720. Safe Kids Columbus is grateful for the continued support from Academy Sports and Outdoor and looks forward to promoting water safety in the community.
