Unveiling ASM Global’s Late-Winter Testing Period for Hong Kong’s $4 Billion Sports District Project: Sustainability, Innovation and Smart Cities at the Forefront
ASM Global and Kai Tak Sports Park Limited announced a late-winter testing period for Hong Kong’s $4 billion, multi-venue sports district project, set to open in early 2025. The project, which has been in the works for nearly a decade, includes the centerpiece Kai Tak Stadium, a 50,000-seat venue with a retractable roof and flexible playing surface. Surrounding the stadium are a 10,000-capacity indoor sports arena and a 5,000-spectator public sports ground for school events and athletic competitions.
ASM Global is handling premium sales and programming for the district while Populous handled the master planning and design of the venues. Simon Kwan & Associates served as the architect of record and ADI Limited designed the landscape architecture. Arup provided engineering services.
Sustainability is at the forefront of this project with plans to integrate solar panels, green roofscapes, and electric charging stations throughout the district. Smart city initiatives will include an intelligent building and car management system, Wi-Fi hotspots, an indoor positioning system, and mobile applications for facility booking and wayfinding.
The district is situated next to Victoria Harbor and aims to be a state-of-the-art sports and entertainment destination for both residents and visitors alike.
