$155 Million Boost in Funding for University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center: Upgrading Equipment, Modernizing Buildings, and Expanding Educational Programs

The University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center (HSC) is set to receive over $155 million in new funding beginning July 1, 2024. This increase in funding, allocated by the New Mexico State Legislature and signed into law by Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham, will be used to upgrade aging equipment, modernize existing buildings, and expand educational programs.

The HSC will benefit from this funding across various departments, including the College of Nursing, College of Pharmacy, and College of Population Health. Initiatives related to community engagement, the Comprehensive Cancer Center, diversity, ECHO, education, health, research, and the School of Medicine will also receive support.
